UM recently completed its first YBMen program! In partnership with Wolverine Wellness, a unit of the University Health Service, YBMen enrolled 26 Black male students in its signature mental health education and social support program last winter.
Using the new YBMen train-the-trainer model to deliver the program, Wolverine Wellness managed the day-to-day operation with training and research support from YBMen. The program and new YBMen training model were a huge success.
Participants’ feedback has been positive, and many have expressed their appreciation for the program and the opportunity to engage with other Black men on campus. At the end of the program, the men enjoyed a “Meet and Feast” special gathering complete with soul food and music!
